Due to COVID-19, there were no in-person programs in 2020, 2021, and 2022. Likewise, there were no award presentations in those years. Instead, the program delivered senior care packages to seniors in local nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, and private residences (see the Photos section). We pray we are able to return to a normal program in 2023.

Honorary "Celebrate Our Seniors" Award
A special award was presented to the gospel group "The Original Spiritual Travelers" for 15 consecutive years of spiritual-filled entertainment at the Celebrate Our Seniors programs. They travel from Houston and bring an abundance of energy and excitement with them. The lead singer, 99-year young Ernest Smith, is a testament of God's blessings to the group, to the program, and to you and I.
Each year members of the community nominate citizens for the "Celebrate Our Seniors" and the "Rev (Dr.) James & Sister Hester Dennis Honorary Service" awards.
The Brenham Community Festival then organizes selection committees to review the applications and designate the appropriate award recipients. Typically, three to five "Celebrate Our Seniors" awards are made each year.
The "Rev James & Sister Hester Dennis" award is usually presented every two years.
