Bettie Garrett Award | celebrate-seniors

Due to COVID-19, there were no in-person programs in 2020, 2021, and 2022. Likewise, there were no award presentations in those years. Instead, the program delivered senior care packages to seniors in local nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, and private residences (see the Photos section). We pray we are able to return to a normal program in 2023.

Mrs. Bettie E. Garrett Golden Years Award

Originally presented as The Golden Years Award, this award is presented to the oldest person attending the Brenham Community Festival’s “Celebrate Our Seniors” program.

In 2007 it was renamed in honor of Mrs. Bettie E. Garrett, the recipient of the first three awards (2004-2006).

Mrs. Garrett and the other awardees display limitless spirit, energy, and tenacity. These qualities embody the adage that “age is just a number, and does not have to be a limiting factor.”
